Creative and Fast Microsoft Teams Deployment

Olikka has many customers asking to fast track their Microsoft Teams deployment. So far, we've been very successful in delivering. What's the secret? With hard work from dedicated staff, modern ways of thinking and intelligent automation, Olikka have been able to mobilise customer workforces quickly and efficiently.

The case study below outlines a deployment completed just last week. The organisation has many cross-functional teams dispersed across multiple offices. The key steps in delivering this project were:

  • Olikka worked on troubleshooting the Teams client deployment, and enabled staff without Teams to self-service the install on demand
  • We then deployed a custom script to disable a firewall prompt that was a distraction for first-time users of Teams, making the experience more seamless
  • We spent time performing a thorough health-check of the customer's Teams tenant, cleaning up old deprecated policies that were causing an inconsistent experience for staff
  • We analysed the existing O365 Security & Compliance Centre configuration and made recommendations to improve data governance through the introduction of data loss prevention (DLP) policies
  • We design and delivered an automated Teams creation workflow to enable staff to quickly request and provision a Team without creating unnecessary sprawl
  • We then delivered a custom Teams report to give the customer a consolidated view of:
  1. The number of teams in the organisation
  2. The number of members of each team and their names
  3. The number of guests of each team and their names
  4. The number of owners of each team and their names (so no team is left without an active leader)
  5. How many private channels in the team
  6. The age of the team
  7. How much SharePoint storage the team is using
  8. How active the team is (number of messages, chats, last activity date)

The report ultimately empowers the customer to make informed decisions on how to improve their Teams environment, understanding if extra coaching is required or if the team should be retired.
  • Finally, we introduced advanced features such as ‘live events’ (for broadcasting town hall style meetings), and ‘shifts’ (for managing cross-function shift sharing). Both tools have potential to really help customers through remote working challenges

With Olikka’s help, our customer has now successfully deployed Teams to all 1,500 staff. Remote chat, virtual meetings and collaboration have been enabled and a consistent Teams experience has been implemented for all staff, both new adopters and seasoned users alike.

In addition, Teams is now providing an organisation-wide communication platform to help staff stay informed with COVID-19 updates, including the broadcasting of live events and organisation-wide meetings. The customer now has in place a modern and collaborative communications tool that will help them navigate these challenging times.
